Google在今日推出了一套针对中小型企业的Office套件：Google Apps for Your Domain。只要拥有一个属于自己的域名，企业就可以为自己的用户提供一套包括邮件(GMail)、即时通讯(GTalk)、日程安排(Calendar)以及主页发布(Page Creator)在内的服务，而这一切完全由Google免费提供，当然，Google会在其中加入自己的广告。现在看来，这似乎仅仅是Google的第一步，因为根据InformationWeek的消息，Writely以及Spreadsheet很快就会加入到这个Office套件之中。先前有不少人抱怨Google正在毫无头绪地推出各种杂乱的服务而没有明确的战略方向，现在Google正在一步一步地给出自己的答案。Hello everybody out there using minix. We just launched a cool new tool at Pyra. It's called Blogger. It's an automated weblog publishing tool. Unlike Pitas, which, don't get me wrong, is cool, Blogger FTP's your updated weblog page to your own server after each post. 知道blogger.com有没有保留旧的登陆入口啊？我在公司根本用不了Google网域的任何服务，现在blogger beta改用了Google账号登陆，我连管理blog都成为不可能啊。一开始，我无法理解他所说的情况，不过，不久之后我碰到了和他相类似的恼人的状况。

Blogger这次升级，是一次系统架构的大调整，即由过去的发布静态页面，改成了全动态。静态页面过去曾是Blogger的一个重要特色，它支持将 blog内容发布到第三方服务器上（通过FTP）。实际上，Blogger一直是作为一个独立的发布系统存在的，用户可以将blog发布到 Blogspot，也可以是任何其他服务器，这种架构对blog托管服务器的硬件要求非常低。但这个特色同时也成为过去几年制约Blogger发展的一个关键因素，很多重要的特性无法添加。Evan认为，这次架构调整，加上与Google账户的合并，将令Blogger更容易地与Gmail、 Reader、Orkut和未来的Google工具进行整合。由于blogger beta还没有开放新的模板代码，以上的文字让我们对于blogger的新后台有了一些较为直观的了解。而blogger beta对此的官方解释是：
测试中的Blogger会对FTP blog产生什么影响？测试中的Blogger是基于动态服务的理念。使用FTP或SFTP的用户，由于其blog没有托管在Blog*Spot，他们将不能进行动态发布。我们会继续以目前的状态支持FTP发布（即把Blogger创建的静态网页传送到你的服务器）。不过，依赖动态服务的新特性，在这些blog上将无法提供。希望获得全部Blogger特性的用户，我们建议将发布切换到Blog*Spot。于是我得出结论，blogger beta我基本上是用不到了！

Do you consider sites such as DIGG to be rivals? Is there enough room to co-exist, or even collaborate, with these sites? I don't think Slashdot has a rival exactly in what we do. Sites like Digg excel at a certain thing, and fail at others. What we do is unique. I'm always open to talking to people about collaberation where it makes sense. At the same time, I fight to keep Slashdot independant. I think part of our uniqueness is the fact that we try to make as unbiased a judgement as possible about the stories we select.
